The following is a list of descriptions of each officer's responsibilities and the current officer. These officer descriptions are based on those from the ACM Student Chapter Manual that can be found at the National ACM Website.

  • President: Crystal Wettingfeld - Responsible for all chapter activities. This person normally presides at all meetings of the chapter, and represents the chapter to the Association. First in the chain of command, presides over, and appoints all committees of the chapter.  Is also responsible for working with the Computer Science Department for arrangements for the Annual Spring Banquet.  (i.e.  arranging for speaker, organizing and delegating tasks in planning the banquet, etc.)
  • Vice-President: James Carnley - Assumes the duties of the President in the event of the chair's absence, and fulfills those duties assigned by the President. Typically, the Vice President is chair of all chapter committees, which is responsible for arranging weekly activities, fundraisers, and other related functions for the chapter.
  • Secretary: Raul Picon - Keeps the minutes of all chapter meetings; prepares the annual chapter activity report, which is presented to the chapter at the end of the program year--normally, at the meeting when newly elected officers formally assume their posts; and prepares reports to be sent to ACM headquarters as required. The secretary must also notify ACM Headquarters of changes in officers or sponsor of the chapter. Likewise, the secretary must send official notification to the ACM Chapter Coordinator of any proposed changes in the chapter's bylaws for approval, prior to their distribution to the membership.
  • Treasurer: Iris Beltran - The responsibilities of the treasurer include collecting dues and maintaining the financial and membership records of the chapter. The treasurer must also file the annual report of the chapter's finances required by the Treasurer of ACM.
  • SGA Representative: Valerie Juarez - Represents the Lamar ACM Chapter at all SGA Meetings and is our liaison with the Lamar University Student Government Assoc. Ability to attend all SGA Meetings is required, and must report back to the chapter and its officers to allow the chapter to be involved and aware of the ongoings and events at the University. If the SGA Representative is unable to attend a meeting, he/she must find a replacement, whether it be an officer, committee chair or ACM member to take their place at the SGA Meeting with at least 24 hours notice.

Introductory Committee Chairs:

  • Fundraising Chair: Responsible for the organization, planning, and implementations of fundraisers for the organization. Must have a minimum of one fundraiser per month in each semester. Lamar ACM Activities are normally held once every week, during the weekend, unless other circumstances prohibit so, during the course of the Fall and Spring semesters. ACM Event Pictures Uploaded

Pictures from various ACM events in the past few years have been uploaded to the web server.

If you know of anyone who has pictures of ACM events or spring banquets, please ask them to send us a copy of those pictures so that we may put them on the official ACM website.

Right now it is just a directory dump with little organization. When the Drupal image gallery module is set up then it will be much easier to navigate the pictures.

View the entire pictures directory.
